Injuries and Conditions Commonly Cared ForNeck Pain: The British Journal of Medicine reported that chiropractic care for neck problems is more effective than physical therapy and even better results were reported when combined with physical therapy. Headaches: Two studies in Australia and New Zealand Journals of Medicine reported that chiropractic manipulation either cured or substantially reduced headaches, including migraine, in 74.6% of patients. Carpal Tunnel: Research at the Center For Carpal Tunnel Studies in Arizona revealed up to 90% of carpal tunnel cases respond favorably to Chiropractic. Back Pain: Dozens of controlled studies have confirmed Chiropractic efficiency in treatment of low back pain. Findings include; chiropractic adjustments are more effective than other methods, chiropractic manipulation is safer and less expensive than medical management of low back pain. Low Back Pain: About 85 percent of the population will experience disabling low back pain at least once during their lives! That's almost all of us. The estimated cost of this problem in the U.S. is over $50 billion a year. Neck Problems: With all of the neck's complexity it should come as no surprise that neck problems are common. They may develop suddenly from a trauma such as a whiplash or fall, or slowly as a result of spinal imbalance. Headaches: If you suffer from headaches, a chiropractic spinal checkup is one of the best things you can do. Chiropractic's safe, gentle, drugless methods have helped millions of headache sufferers over the years. Sciatica and Leg Pain: If your sciatic nerve becomes inflamed, the condition is called sciatica (pronounced sï-ad-i-ka). The pain can be intense! It often follows the path of your nerve - down the back of your legs and thighs, ankle, foot and toes - but it can also radiate to your back. Migraine and Cluster Headaches: Few of the millions who get occasional headaches have it as bad as the migraine sufferer. Far from being a minor annoyance, these headaches can ruin lives. Muscle Spasms: Muscle spasm and cramping is often brought on by direct injury or overuse. In addition, when injury occurs we instinctively adjust our posture into a position that produces the least amount of pain. Fibromyalgia: Do you feel like you have the flu all the time, with achiness and pain all over? Is the pain worse in the morning, often with increased muscle stiffness? Do you feel fatigued every day, even after a full night's sleep? Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome has become one of the most significant medical problems affecting workers at the turn of this century. The U.S. Department of Labor reports that carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive disorders now account for over 60% of all workplace injuries. Shoulder, Arm and Hand Problems: Problems with the neck, shoulder and arm are often called different things by patients: neuritis, bursitis, neuralgia, rheumatism, frozen shoulder, fibrositis, sprained, strained or sore muscles or "poor circulation". Whiplash and Neck Injuries: Of the millions of people who visit Doctors of Chiropractic each year, a large number have had whiplash injuries. Whiplash injuries occur when a person's spine, usually their neck, was hurt by being unexpectedly or suddenly thrown very quickly in one direction and then in the opposite direction. Accidents: It's a rare life that hasn't been punctuated by a traumatic brush (or collision) with reality. And although accidents may be unavoidable, much of the physical damage and suffering resulting from them may, in many cases, be avoided with chiropractic care. Motor Vehicle Accident - Hyperextension Phase: Studies of victims of motor vehicle accidents reveal that zygapophyseal joint injuries are common, being present in 86% of the necks examined. Work Injuries: Hurt on the job? You're not alone...millions of people are suffering from all types of job injuries ranging from the stress of working in a bad position to improper lifting or carrying to falls and other trauma. Among the most common on-the-job injuries is spinal injury. Osteoarthritis: Osteoarthritis, also called degenerative joint disease, is the most common of the more than 100 forms of arthritis - and it affects 30 to 40 million Americans. Scoliosis: Most people with scoliosis can lead a normal life, never even knowing that they have the condition. No one dies from scoliosis. But in severe cases scoliosis sufferers can have breathing or heart problems. Colds, Flu and Respiratory Diseases: Isn't chiropractic just for backs? Not so. In fact, many people seeing chiropractors for spinal pain find a general improvement in their health that includes fewer and less severe colds and other respiratory problems. |
